Job description

Carpenter with extensive knowledge, more specifically extensive knowledge in building furniture from solid wood.

Independently able to build furniture from solid wood and restore existing pieces of furniture by the set deadlines.
Building furniture in the workshop for quality control; helping to pack up furniture and load it into the container for transport.
Prepared to carry out projects in Belgium and abroad (primarily Luxembourg, France and the Netherlands). May be required to stay overnight.

Responsibilities

  1. Building, rebuilding and restoring furniture based on a plan (understanding plans and technical drawings)
  2. Completing furniture by the set deadline
  3. Building (cutting, turning, milling, planing, etc.) furniture components
  4. Checking measurements and dimensions of furniture components
  5. An eye for detail and good finishing (can notice defects in a built product)
  6. Set up or assemble furniture, check the assembly (straightness, stability, level, etc.) and adapt the components where necessary; Fitting the hardware
  7. Restore and preserve old furniture
  8. Cooperate well and have good relationships with all colleagues and the Workshop Supervisor

Scope

  • • Reports to the Workshop Supervisor
  • • Is not a direct manager

Profile

  • • Wood Techniques (TSO - technical secondary education) or Carpentry (BSO - vocational secondary education) programme
  • • Furniture restoration programme is a plus
  • • Experience as a furniture maker is a plus
  • • Knowledge of manual carpentry tools and portable electric tools (electric saw, tilted table saw, fretsaw/jigsaw, sander, etc.)
  • • Knowledge of woodworking machines
  • • Knowledge of finishing agents
  • • Knowledge of preservation and restoration techniques
  • • Quality conscious
  • • An eye for details
  • • Flexible
  • • Orderly and neat
  • • Team player, collegiality is highly important
  • • Prepared to travel
  • • Have a B-category driving license and your own vehicle
